ORGANIZING TOOLS

Time Glider: Time Glider is a website that has an application to help you build interactive timelines to organize dates and events. You can “grab” the timeline and drag it left and right to view different points in time. You can “zoom” in and out to view centuries at a time, or simply a few hours. You can also use the website to see how timespans overlap with one another. Another feature of this site is that it allows you to make your timeline accessible to the public but creating a URL for it.

Class Tools: Class Tools is a website that is full of educational games, quizzes, activities and diagrams that can be used to help students stay organized. There is no sign-up or charge to use the site. You can browse by subject or by grade. There are many flow charts, circle and jigsaw diagrams. Some of the organizational templates are:
  • Post-It: a diagram template that allows you to load images and place labels
  • Diamond 9: chart that is good for organizing facts
  • Venn Diagrams: chart that is good for making comparisons
  • Burger Diagram: a diagram that is good for showing layers

Exploratree: Exploratree is a website that is full of ready-made thinking guides that will keep students’ information organized throughout lessons. This website has broken up their graphic organizers into the following categories:
  • Map Your Ideas
  • Solve Problems
  • Explore
  • Analyze
  • Different Perspectives
Each of these categories has premade graphic organizers. If you can’t quite find what you are looking for you can also build your own organizer here. Images, shapes, and texts can all be changed and manipulated to fit the needs of the assignment. These organizers may be printed out or you may choose to have students complete their project on the Exploratree website. This website also helps teachers stay organized as well. Teachers can also build their own portfolios on this site that contain their favorite graphic organizers.
